On September 30, the Indian community of Greater Moncton gathered to celebrate various Indian festivals from different parts of the country. Festivals like Dusshera, Garba, Dandiya, Vijaya Dashmi and Battukamma were celebrated with pomp and gaiety.
The celebration started with a traditional Bengali style Aarti performed by Ms.Sipra Das. It was followed by a dance performance called Battukamma (A traditional dance form from the state of Telangana).
Later in the evening, the Rass Graba (a folk dance from the state of Gujarat) was performed. To cap it all, the festive night was brought to a close with a rousing display of the Dandiya. (a featured dance in the western regions of India).
